The upholstery of family cars such as the Renault Espace or Scenic are particularly susceptible to the wear and tear inflicted by their "little" passengers. That is why the French automotive manufacturer Renault has employed DuPont™ Teflon® fabric protector to safeguard the interior car seats of these models, making them easier to clean and better protected from life’s everyday spills and stains.

Geneva, August 2011. Children, snacks, shoes, crayons and pets are the ingredients for memorable family road trips, as well as sticky, stained car upholstery that can result from fun-filled vacations and everyday errands.   To protect its auto upholstery from wear and tear and keep it performing better, longer, Renault has employed DuPont™ Teflon® fabric protector to safeguard the interior car seats of the new Renault Scenic and the Renault Espace.

“Now more than ever, durability is important to consumers,” said Nancy Racke, corporate account manager Renault at DuPont.  “DuPont™ Teflon® fabric protector repels spills and splashes; it releases stains more easily, and keeps fabrics in Renault vehicles performing at the highest standards.”

“Our goal is to deliver innovative solutions that differentiate us down to the very last detail,” said Laure Pimmel – Renault Head of Comfort and Well-Being.  “Our anti-stain, anti-dirt upholstery is easier to clean and better protected from life’s everyday spills and stains, much to the benefit of our customers.”

The Renault fabrics meet Automotive High Performance Repel Teflon® fabric protector Brand Assurance Program standards.  In addition to meeting initial water and oil repellency specifications, automotive fabrics were subjected to a rigorous abrasion test, including meeting oil and water repellency specifications on areas where the abrasion test was conducted.

Fabrics treated with Teflon® can mean less scrubbing and less wear and tear, and that can mean less impact on the planet.  Vehicle interiors will look newer, longer, with lasting freshness and comfort and owner satisfaction. Here is how it works.  Teflon® fabric protector forms a molecular barrier around each individual fabric fiber. This barrier lowers the critical surface tension of the fabric so it repels most water- and oil based liquids. Fabrics become water- and oil-repellent without changing the color or feel.  The invisible and odorless Teflon® fabric protector encapsulates every fiber of the fabric without affecting its appearance, touch or comfort. Incredibly easy to clean, a single wipe is all that is required to remove spots of dirt of liquid spills.

“Life is made up of moments you’ll never forget, and the new Renault auto fabrics will stand up to what life throws at them, in part thanks to Teflon® fabric protector,” said Racke.
