DuPont Named Finalist in PIA Supplier Partnership and Best Training and Development Programme of the Year

DuPont shortlisted for prestigious Plastics Industry Awards 2014

Geneva, August 2014 - DuPont  has been announced as a finalist in the Supplier Partnership and Training and Development Programme categories for this year’s Plastics Industry Awards (PIAs). The 2014 event takes place on Friday, 24 October at the London Hilton on Park Lane and will be hosted by comedian and TV presenter Al Murray.

With 16 categories covering materials usage, product design, manufacturing, training and environmental performance, the PIAs highlight and recognise the best that the innovative UK plastics industry has to offer. This year’s event is set to attract around 800 guests including supplier companies, OEM manufacturers, plastics processors, consultants, trainees and designers.

Glen Barber, country manager for DuPont Performance Polymers in the UK, said “We are absolutely delighted to appear on the shortlist of finalists in two categories for the prestigious 2014 Plastics Industry Awards. Our partnership with our customer, TFI (Technology From Ideas) to develop a novel way of incorporating wave protection into mooring lines and wave energy devices illustrates our collaborative approach on a specific cutting edge development in the supplier partnership – polymer producer category. The shortlisting in the training category highlights our commitment to deliver extensive technical training to the UK plastics industry, including conceptual design advice, specific part design support (such as FEA  and Moldflow), material recommendation and processing expertise. Both examples reflect extremely well on the capabilities of the DuPont Performance Polymers team in the UK and are major achievements for us.”

This year’s judging panel included Dr Robin Kent, MD, Tangram Technology; Mercia Gick; Dr George Kellie, Chairman, KellieSolutions™;  Julia Moore, Chief Executive, GTMA; Professor Gordon Smith, Head of the Polymer and Composites Materials Group, University of Warwick;  Les Wynn, Manager of Experience Design and Covers Engineering, HCL Technologies Ltd.; John Whitehead, ex-Editor, PRW; Dr Peter Cox, Consultant, and Graeme Paterson, Director, Brightworks.
