Value-Adding Plastics for Cosmetics Packaging
 
Geneva, October 2015 – DuPont Performance Polymers will highlight its unique portfolio of polyesters, DuPont™ Crastin® PBT  and renewably sourced DuPont™ Sorona® EP PTT, at LuxePack Monaco 2015 for applications in the cosmetics industry that range from mascara to lipstick and pump mechanisms.
 
The high-performance plastics, offered as alternatives to current cosmetics packaging solutions, can provide beautiful aesthetics and excellent mechanical properties in contact with cosmetics formulations while complying with International Cosmetics and Food Contact regulations. In addition,  Sorona® EP PPT contains up to 37 percent bio-based ingredients which translate DuPont latest research and innovation efforts to find alternative feedstock material with a better environmental performance..

Amongst a wide range of materials, the DuPont Portfolio includes Crastin® PBT stability and renewably based Sorona® EP PTT which both offer an excellent surface finish, durability and great dimensional . On top of the high mechanical performance, these two products allow design freedom and enable designers to integrate function into durable aesthetics. Both materials comply with the EU Cosmetics Directive (EU nr.1223/2009) as well as the food contact regulations (US: FDA and EU10/2011).
