BERKELEY COLLEGE APPOINTS VINITA ITTOOP, PhD, AS DIRECTOR,
CENTER FOR GLOBAL STUDIES

Marianne E. Vakalis, EdD, Berkeley College Associate Provost, Faculty Affairs, is proud to announce the appointment of Vinita Ittoop, PhD, as Director of the Berkeley College Center for Global Studies. The Center was established earlier this year as a product of the Berkeley College Strategic Plan, 2010 – 2015. In her new role, Dr. Ittoop will work with the School Deans and the Academic Department Chairs to ensure that courses and programs reflect the significance of globalization.

 “As the champion for globalization, Dr. Ittoop will help promote the International Business degrees, encourage further development of foreign language study and student study abroad opportunities, and help integrate ESL students into the College,” Dr. Vakalis said. 

Dr. Ittoop joined Berkeley College in July 2007, and most recently served as an Instructor and Assistant Chair, Management, in the School of Business. She has a PhD and MPhil in International Economics from Columbia University, NY; an MS in Quantitative Methods from the Stern School of Business, New York University; and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Talladega College, AL. 

Dr. Ittoop has extensive business experience in large corporations such as AT&T, SunGard, and Citicorp, and was part of the founding team at Multinational Computer Models Inc., a Corporate Treasury Management consultancy and software company. 

A leader in business education for 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls nearly 9,000 students — including more than 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The Collegehas four New York locations —Midtown Manhattan, Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, Brooklyn, and White Plains.  And in New Jersey there are four locations —Woodland Park, Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark.  Berkeley College Online also offers full degree programs.
