MORE THAN 375 BERKELEY COLLEGE FACULTY AND STAFF
PARTICIPATE IN SECOND ANNUAL COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY

More than 375  Berkeley College associates volunteered 1,500 hours of community service at 40 community agencies in New Jersey and New York as part of the second annual Berkeley College Community Service Day held Friday, June 10.

In New Jersey volunteers helped at 21 locations spread across Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties. Community Service Day gives associates the opportunity to provide hands-on help at local organizations. In Bergen County, volunteers helped with cleanup and planted flowers in Saddle River Park in Saddle Brook and in the Bergen County Zoological Park located within Van Saun Park in Paramus; prepared kits for the American Cancer Society Relay4Life in Oakland; performed administrative duties at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Englewood Cliffs; and participated in daycare activities at Children’s Aid and Family Services in Paramus.

“Our Community Service Day turned out to be a great success. We weeded and mulched the entrance to Van Saun Park Zoo, and also the grounds around the center of the zoo,” said Sarai DeHope, Payroll Manager. “We got to meet employees from all the different Berkeley College campuses and everyone worked really well together.”

Berkeley College has a long tradition of serving organizations in the local and global community. In addition to this year’s Community Service Day, as part of its anniversary theme “Berkeley College – Changing Lives for 80 Years,” the College also has set a goal of raising at least $80,000 for charities through participation in various community service events and activities.

A leader in business education for 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls nearly 9,000 students — including more than 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has four New York locations — Midtown Manhattan, Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, Brooklyn, and White Plains. And in New Jersey there are four locations — Woodland Park, Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark.  Berkeley College Online also offers full degree programs. Programs are offered in more than 20 career fields. The website address is www.BerkeleyCollege.edu.
