MORE THAN 1,900 STUDENTS RECEIVE DIPLOMAS
FROM
BERKELEY COLLEGE

Family and friends filled the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ, on Friday, April 26, to honor and celebrate Berkeley College graduates at the Commencement Ceremony of the Class of 2013.

More than 1,900 students from Berkeley College locations in New Jersey and New York and Berkeley College Online received Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees. The College also held a Virtual Commencement to honor its more than 300 graduating online students.

“The Class of 2013 is the largest graduating class in the history of Berkeley College. The youngest graduate is 19 years old and the oldest is 66 years old,” Dario A. Cortes, PhD, President of Berkeley College, told the graduates. “Today, all of you are embarking on an exciting new journey for which you are well prepared. Celebrate your graduation and be proud of what you have accomplished.”

During their college careers, the members of the graduating class served internships at more than 1,000 companies, including Bloomingdale’s, Price Waterhouse Cooper, The New York Times Company and Verizon, among others.

Nina Vaca, Chairman and CEO of Pinnacle Technical Resources, Inc., delivered the Commencement Address and was presented with an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree.

“Today, your education has leveled the playing field,” Ms. Vaca told the graduates. “Today, not only do you change your life, but you have the opportunity to change generations for your family.”

The College also recognized students Maria Isabel Alarcon of Jersey City, NJ; Maamideede Hudson of Yonkers, NY; and Anna Gorovits of Brooklyn, NY; with Robert Maher Outstanding Student awards. Cheryl Hutin Lavery of Manhattan, NY, Class of 1984, and Donna M. Boles of Morris Township, Class of 1972, were recognized with Alumni of the Year awards.

A leader in business education for more than 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls more than 7,700 students — including over 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has three New York locations — Midtown Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains. In New Jersey there are four locations — Woodland Park, Paramus, Woodbridge and Newark. Berkeley College Online also offers full degree programs. Programs are offered in more than 20 career fields. The website address is www.BerkeleyCollege.edu.
