BBB® HAS RECEIVED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT GREENFROG RESTORATION

BBB has received multiple complaints indicating that a Carmel based company collects insurance payments in advance and never returns to complete the work.

Indianapolis – July 15, 2015 – Since September of 2014, BBB has received multiple complaints about  Greenfrog Restoration collecting advance insurance payments for primarily roofing repairs and have not returned to start the work. Complainants have also alleged that multiple contact attempts have gone unanswered.

Indianapolis resident, Randy White paid over $6,000 in September 2014.  No work was ever started and he now has damages on the interior of his home because of the roof leaking. BBB has sent this complaint to the company and is currently awaiting a response.

Tips on how consumers can avoid these situations:

  • Start your search at www.bbb.org/indy to find a business you can trust.
  • BBB verifies Accredited Businesses meet stringent standards and pledge to uphold BBB Standards for Trust.
  • Look for the BBB Seal.
  • NEVER pay in full before the work has begun. Typically, 1/3rd is required as a down payment, with additional payments after completion of additional phases of work. The final payment is due when the work is completed.

BBB briefly looked over the contract signed by White, which did not appear to be in compliance with the Indiana Consumer Home Improvement Contract Act.  The following items were NOT included:

  • The name and address of the home improvement supplier and each of the telephone numbers of any agent to whom consumer problems can be directed.
  • A reasonably detailed description of the proposed home improvements.
  • If the description of the proposed home improvement does not include the specifications for the home improvement, a statement that the specifications will be provided to the consumer before commencing any work and that the home improvement contract is subject to the consumer's separate written and dated approval of the specifications.
  • The approximate starting and completion dates of the home improvements.
  • A statement of any contingencies that would materially change the approximate completion date.
  • The home improvement contract price.

The telephone number listed on their website 1-800-335-FROG (3764) rings until a message comes on indicating the mailbox is full, and then directs to a general phone number for the office building,
