Wilmington, Del., April 14, 2011 – DuPont welcomes the reintroduction of Senator Lautenberg’s bill to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) as a positive step forward. We appreciate the Senator’s long-standing interest and leadership in this area. We continue to believe that Congress should act in a bipartisan way to modernize TSCA.

We appreciate that the bill reflects elements of the robust stakeholder dialogue on TSCA that occurred last year and begins to move in the direction of a more workable program. More effort will be required to develop legislation that can be voted out of the House and Senate and be enacted into law, and we look forward to working with Senator Lautenberg and others in that process.

DuPont strongly believes that the 35-year-old Toxic Substances Control Act needs thoughtful reform and modernization. That reform must enhance public confidence in the chemicals regulatory system, provide the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stronger authorities and enable the United States to continue its leadership in innovation.
