WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 21, 2012 – DuPont has been named one of the Top Employers in a survey by Science magazine for the fifth year in a row.  DuPont was ranked No. 10 this year.  Employees from all across the globe responded to a survey about what they like best about working for DuPont.

Companies were rated based on 23 characteristics, including financial strength, easy adaptation to change and a research-driven environment.  The Science and Science Careers’ annual Top Employers Survey polls researchers in the biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and related industries to determine the 20 best employers in these industries as well as their driving characteristics.

“At DuPont we work hard to empower our scientists as they invent and innovate for our diverse, global customer base,” said Douglas Muzyka, senior vice president and chief science and technology officer.  “Being named to Science magazine’s Top Employer list is especially rewarding because it’s the voice of our scientists and engineers and reflects the grade they give us, motivating us to continuously improve.”

The survey sought to identify the companies with the best reputations as employers, based on 4,276 survey responses from readers of Science and other survey invitees from North America (78 percent), Europe (14 percent), and Asia/Pacific Rim (5 percent).  Each company received a ranking, for example, on the basis of whether it treats its employees with respect, whether its work-culture values align with employees’ personal values and other factors.   For the complete feature along with individual company rankings, go to www.sciencecareers.org/TopEmployers2012.
