WILMINGTON, Del., June 19, 2014 – Statement from DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman:  We are all saddened at the passing of DuPont scientist Stephanie Kwolek, a creative and determined chemist and a true pioneer for women in science. Her synthesis of the first liquid crystal polymer and the invention of DuPont™ Kevlar® highlighted a distinguished career. In 1996, she became the third DuPont scientist to win a National Medal of Technology or of Science. She leaves a wonderful legacy of thousands of lives saved and countless injuries prevented by products made possible by her discovery.
