Opdyke teaches courses in Biological Evolution, Botany, Ecology, Chemistry, Natural Sciences, and Politics and the Environment. His research interests include Lichens as indicators of anthropogenic disturbances, Aquatic ecology and the relationship between fluvial geomorphology, water quality and biological diversity, and Wetland ecology and restoration.
