Main Library Committee has completed study phase; ready to review conclusions

The Main Library Committee held its fourth meeting February 13 and will now consider conclusions that will be given to the Library and County Boards.

The seven-member Main Library Committee has completed the study phase of its work and is ready to review conclusions.

The Committee generally agrees that while the Library building and property have value, the real estate market is in such a downturn that even if a buyer could be found, the Library would not be able to command top dollar in such a sale.

Regarding the group's study of process improvements, it is felt that while some improvements can be made, none of the changes would result in significant cost savings. It is felt that any process improvements the committee may recommend could be implemented system-wide rather than at the Main Library alone.

The committee will now review a draft of its conclusions before it brings them to the Library Board of Trustees and the Board of County Commissioners.
