DuPont Refinish introduces next generation spectrophotometer – ChromaVision® Pro

After successfully offering its bodyshops the ability to benefit from ChromaVision® for over 10 years, DuPont Refinish has released its next generation spectrophotometer – ChromaVision® Pro – to be offered alongside the ever popular original ChromaVision® . A further advancement in the DuPont Refinish arsenal of tools, ChromaVision® Pro is set to increase user confidence and its colour matching reliability – something the aftermarket paint brand has worked hard to develop.

Laurence Van den Bergh, colour automation, DuPont Refinish EMEA, says, “over the last 10 years we’ve gathered data and feedback from our bodyshops and refinishers on how formulas are searched for and retrieved. This vast database of information coupled with our dedication to improve the technical capability of our colour tools has enabled our colour automation specialists, together with BYK-Gardner GmbH, to develop ChromaVision® Pro. It is the most highly-productive spectrophotometer on the market today and offers even more advantages to the refinisher than the original ChromaVision®.”

ChromaVision® Pro has four key new features:

  • ChromaVision® Pro users will now, for the first time, be able to measure the effect of a colour directly on the handheld device.
  • ChromaVision® Pro offers increased accuracy through improved light power with the use of more LEDs and an enhanced optical device. This next generation device provides better optimised and more secure colour measurements thanks to the addition of a rubber O-ring and four contact pins around the measurement aperture. These provide the unit with an improved seal against the surface of the vehicle to minimise external light reflections, which ensures better first time colour readings from three patented DuPont angles.
  • DuPont Refinish has added a colour touch-screen display and stylus to ChromaVision® Pro which means refinishers will have a better user experience from the on-screen visual guidance. The self-explanatory and internationally recognised icons mean that no matter what language a refinisher speaks, bodyshops owners can be confident that trained refinishers will be able to use ChromaVision® Pro no matter what country they are in.
  • The new software which powers ChromaVision® Pro takes colour matching accuracy to another level, and with it user confidence, saving time and aiding productivity by minimising mistakes. The software is easy to use and ensures that the top search result is the most accurate colour match.

In addition to these key ChromaVision® Pro features, the new spectrophotometer also benefits from an improved and modernised design. The new unit is more robust, with a rubberised case allowing a firm and handy grip for the user. It is also possible to pre-configure the device with order numbers, manufacturers, comments and colour codes. The operating button is larger making it easy-to-use, and coupled with the new touch-screen display, DuPont Refinish knows refinishers will be able to see the advantages of and reap the confidence from using ChromaVision® Pro from the first use.

Van den Bergh says, “DuPont Refinish believes confidence is the key. We have no doubt that once refinishers have the correct ChromaVision® Pro training, and have witnessed the ability of the new generation tool first-hand, they will rely on it for every colour match.”

Michael Maier, DuPont Refinish brand manager EMEA, concludes, “we will continue to sell and to support the original ChromaVision® but we encourage all our bodyshops to look at how the new ChromaVision® Pro, with its key features, could help them improve their productivity even further. In this difficult economic climate, only those bodyshops with access to the right tools will successfully grow their business.”
