Asturias December 3, 2014- Under the slogan “We are all capable” DuPont Asturias is going to celebrate the International Day of People with Disabilities with a designed session in collaboration with the FSC Inserta Association, a group belonging to the ONCE Foundation for employment and training of persons with disabilities.
The session counted with the participation of Carlos Sierra and Eliecer Gutierrez both Labor Inclusion Technicians for Asturias; Alberto Suárez, Paralympic marathon champion and Jesús Fernández on behalf of ASPAYM, (Spinal Cord Injury Association and Major Physically Handicapped).
The employees were able to participate in several activities throughout the session including the attendance to a presentation given by Carlos Sierra, Jesús Fernández and Alberto Suárez, join some practical workshops that gave them the opportunity to test their skills on how to deal with everyday situations, watch videos addressing the challenges but also the successes and the normalization of the people with disabilities, and see an exhibition at a stand with media articles published in the last months to exchange experiences and collect suggestions and comments.
“We are committed to attract talent and for this, we have to remove all barriers that can hide them: I don’t mean physical barriers but rather preconceptions about people with disabilities. I’m convinced that sessions like these, open the door to change our mindset to approach our own capabilities and limitations and those of others,” said Enrique Macián, president of DuPont in Spain and Portugal.
